※ Project Statement:
Future Cities Competition China invites you to the second Design Competition which relate to a series of ethical issues of human and city, life and death. This competition is based on the concept that the students are encourage to research on the world best cancer hospitals design, to make some analysis of the main differences between them and other hospitals, to produce personal comments on its findings and finally produce a set of conceptual ideas on how the cancer hospital can be improved by architectural and interior design means. We strongly recommend our participants to choose the most representative area in a hospital, the ward or the garden, to produce the sound design and planning, showing under which a cancer hospital could be a green place full of human care and respect for life and death as well.
Competitors are required to study world’s leading cancer hospitals and make a conceptual design of green cancer hospital.
Phase 1: Submit an engaging poster that presents research of a cancer hospital. The challenge is to explain from different angles, especially from a perspective of ethics and sustainability how a building could best be designed in order to manage the treatment of people who struggle for their live.
Phase 2: Demonstration of local design sketches; the competitors are recommended to choose the most representative area in a hospital, the ward or the garden, to produce the sound design and planning. The design might be city plan, environmental design, and interior design and so on. Five selected teams will be invited to join a one day design demonstration in order to further develop the proposal with the support of specialists in the field. The winning teams will get the chance of internships in leading architecture firms which stand on leading edge on green and sustainable buildings.
※ Qualification:
Participants should be students who are in China’s College, in form of a team which has less than 3 people. Groups whose members have different majors are encouraged, and with the instruction of a professor is also encouraged.
