In order to give participants additional guidance on essay writing for this year’s CSR Essay Competition, jointly organized by CIBE and UIBE, on the 18th November a preparation workshop was given at Ningyuan Building of the University of International Business and Economics (UIBE). The workshop was delivered by Professor Le Ping, Deputy Dean of the School of Humanities and Social Science.

Professor Le offered advice on a wide-range of topics, including choosing suitable research topics, as well as questions on research organization and methodology. Professor Le laid strong emphasis on the importance of the preparation process rather than the final outcome. She encouraged participants to keep focus on issues of practicality, not only in choosing a topic which is of practical significance and meaningful to their lives, but also in realistically assessing the feasibility of their project and research methodology.

Having chosen an appropriate and interesting topic, she encouraged participants to carry out a thorough literature review and brainstorming. She also stressed the importance of effective communication and cooperation between team members, in order to break down the task and ensure every participant has equal chance to contribute and learn something new.
