On April 11, 2014, Ms. Dorothy Gao, the office director of CIBE, accompanied Swiss volunteers, Ms. Sonja Rösli and Mrs. Dolores Rösli, to visit the Rothlin primary school in Nanpi County ,Hebei province.
After some communication with the teachers’ representative, the group of people visited the multimedia classroom, library, laboratory, etc., especially the drinking water filter device sponsored by the Italian foundation and faculty canteen donated by the Bosch Group; the teachers’ representative said that with the help from individuals and organizations, the hardware equipment in the school has been improved a lot in past five years.
Then the Swiss volunteers and the students’ representatives of the primary school had a heated discussion. The volunteers gave a brief description of the voluntarily teaching in this summer and the students were all very excited when they heard that they can learn Swiss culture, art, music, and taught in English. The students were shy in the beginning but then turned to be enthusiastic soon. Therefore, we could expect that this summer program will broaden the students’ horizons and bring new excitement to them. And this is also our purpose to introduce foreign volunteers to Nanpi for voluntarily teaching.
Finally, we also visited the residence of the summer volunteers, and the volunteers felt comfortable about the neat environment.
Ms Sonja Rösli and another Swiss volunteer, Mr. Walti Sigrist will come to the school for summer teaching. She is enthusiastically seeking help from Swiss foundations and enterprises, in hope to give more chances to the primary school students. We really hope more friends from home or abroad will come to support the rural education! |
