The Preliminary Contest of the Sixth Summer Camp

Date:2015-8-10

The Preliminary Contest of the Sixth Summer Camp

The preliminary contest of the Sixth College Students Green Entrepreneurship Summer Camp was held in University of International Business and Economics in the afternoon of August 9th.

This year, we have three projects as real cases for campers, which are the promotion project of Esquires Coffee, the GirlUp workshop project and the planning project of Beijing Jianyuanxinlv Picking Garden. The campers were divided into nine groups and every three groups should accomplish one project. In each project, there will be one group to be eliminated and the members of this group will apply to be admitted into another group.

The GirlUp workshop project groups were the first to present on the stage. The members were in great confidence and illustrated the PPT display clearly and concisely. The third group of this project won the biggest applauds for its creativity and planning. Ms. Le Ping, one of the judges, commented that the projects of the first two groups lacked the intermediate link between the targeted segment and the promotion activities, which made them fail on feasibility.

The groups of the promotion project of Esquires Coffee were impressive for their specific characteristics. One group in detail targeted its promotion to every single niche, while another one adopted the strategy of standardized promotion and applied the general promotion plan to all the segments.

The planning project for the picking garden was recognized as the most difficult one among the three. Provided with 1 million RMB as investment and a piece of agricultural land of 60 mu (9.88 acre), the campers came up with bold and creative ideas of how to make it work. The first group designed entertainment activities, the second one introduced the drive-in cinema and methane gas circulation system, and the third devised the plantation of Chinese herbal medicated cuisine. Though creativity made all of them stand out, lack of agricultural knowledge and poor experience in cost control still blocked them in the way.

The judge gave some comments in the end, remarking that the campers were still too confined to enrich their creativity. They also gave some valuable advice on each of the project for further modification.
