On November 27th , the Collegiate Social Responsibility Association and Future Leadership Seminar was officially launched with a ceremony on the third floor of Chenxin Building at University of International Business and Economics (UIBE). Honored guests included Prof. Liu Baocheng and Dr. Stephan Rothlin from CIBE, Vice President of Bentley Asia-Pacific, Mr. Jean-Baptiste Monnier, Vice General Manager of China Shijiazhuang Pharmaceutical Group Co., Ltd. (CSPC) Mr. Shi Li, Chief Editor of Global Business School News, Mr. Meng Ge, and Director of the CCF Reindeer Foundation for Autistic Children Li Bo. The ceremony was hosted by Prof. Xu Song, Youth League Secretary of UIBE.
The ceremony commenced with a short introduction to the Collegiate Student Leader Training Class given by Prof. Xu. The student leader class was established in 2001, since which time more than 1000 students have received training, the majority of which come from the Students Union, Youth League, Volunteer Center, and various other associations at UIBE. The 9th Training Class members included the League branch secretary and the Chief Monitor of the class of 2009.
After the introduction, Mr. Monnier from Bentley took to the stage and announced the Future City Design Project, a first of its kind in Beijing. The design project is to be jointly organized by Bentley Systems and CIBE, with the winning participant given the opportunity to intern at Bentley for one month. In the spirit of the competition, Dr. Stephan Rothlin reminded students to take the initiative in performing social responsibilities. “The most important thing is not about the future or the past, but is about the present.”
Also at the ceremony, the president of the student association announced the establishment of the Collegiate Social Responsibility Association. Ye Weilin, the first president of the CSR Association delivered his speech about the principles and missions of the CSR Association.
At the close, Prof. Liu called on the 5th entrepreneur generation to pursue personal achievement by applying their own knowledge and values rather than pursuing wealth alone. Regarding the establishment of the CSR Association, Prof. Liu suggested the members adhere to three 'A's: Awareness, Attitude and Action to achieve the a meaningful and lasting impact on society.
