-------Report on the Closing Ceremony of the First CSR Summer Camp

In the afternoon of August 1, 2010, the closing ceremony of “the 2010 first university students corporate social responsibility summer camp” organized by our Center was held in the fourth Conference Room of Cherry Hotel. People invited to attend include party committee secretary of the University of International Business and Economics Ms. Ling Wang, Director of the Public Nutrition and Development Center of the Academy of Macroeconomic Research, NDRC and Director of the National Public Nutrition Improvement Project Mr. Xiaodong Yu, Green Food Association President Mr. Jie Liang, Head of WTO Economy Guide, Ministry of Commerce, Mr. Gefei Yin, and our Center’s Professor Baocheng Liu and Secretary General Dr. Rothlin. Besides, parents of some students in the camp were also present.

Secretary Ling Wang pointed out in the closing speech that in the current situation of weak public sense of social responsibility, CIBE actively promoted social responsibility in institutions of higher education and held a summer camp on this topic. This camp is not only rich and varied in contents and forms, but also the firsts of public civic education in universities, becoming the first social responsibility summer camp in the institutions of higher education in Beijing and even the whole country. Secretary also took the United States West Point motto “Duty, Honor, Country” as an example to show the urgency and importance of enhancing corporate and individual sense of social responsibility, which could begin with university students who were about to face the society. She also hoped CIBE could expand the influence, scale and form in the later promotion, making more people familiar with and accept social responsibility, and passing on this baton. Subsequently, Professor Baocheng Liu further pointed out that commitment, obligation and integrity are the three elements of social responsibility, the essence of professionalism, and the improvement of the universal ideas of cultivating oneself, ordering the family, ruling the state, and giving the world peace. He hoped that students taking part in this summer camp could widely spread the idea of social responsibility on campus and attract more university students to participate in it, making greater contributions in their future posts to the economic prosperity, social progress and the harmonious development between human beings and environment of China and even the whole world. After that, students gave a variety of reporting performance, with readings, comedy, dance and other forms to show the concept of social responsibility they had acquired in the summer camp, winning the applause of the horned guests and students.

Xiongfei Guo from Beijing Jiaotong University, and Yihan Liu, from the First Senior Middle School of Huludao City, Liaoning province, were respectively awarded the “Special Contribution Award” and the “Special Progress Award”. Meanwhile, Yingying Jin, from Central China Moral University, Pengxiang Teng, from Tianjin Foreign Studies University, and Changfeng Tian, from Zhengzhou Light Industry College, received the “Outstanding Camper Award”.

After the closing ceremony, campers couldn’t conceal their excitement and took souvenir pictures together. They also wished to have the opportunity to become a part of the summer camp again next year.
