The Center for International Business Ethics (CIBE)
The Center for International Business Ethics (CIBE, www.cibe.org.cn) is a non-governmental organization located in Beijing, China and hosted by the University of International Business and Economics (UIBE). Our Asian (specifically Chinese) focus shapes our identity as a research and training center. CIBE specializes in bringing together the academic study and practice of business ethics by working with many different Partners and stakeholders.
Summer Camp Project
To enhance university students’ understanding of Corporate Social Responsibility, CSR and implementing basic human values as well as to facilitate the multilateral dialogue, especially in the area of environmental protection etc. CIBE has initiated the “Collegiate Social Responsibility Summer Camp” since 2010. By participating in lectures, workshops and field trips, 20 members learned hands-on experience and a better understanding of Social Responsibility. The camp achieved great impact, 12 well-known companies attended and highly appraised CIBE’s achievement in educating students for responsible leadership.
The second round of Camp was organized in July, with 35 members from different universities. Besides the organizations supported in the last round, CIBE has cooperated and established sustainable relationship with new partners, including Lenovo Group, the Luxemburg Embassy, UN Global Compact Network China and The Crowne Plaza Sun Palace Beijing. This also serves as our tangible resources for future achievement in series events.
According to past camps, camp members engaged in interacted with officials and experts from The Crowne Plaza Sun Palace Beijing, Standard Chartered Bank, Total Group (China), Siemens(China), Bentley Systems (China) and Chinese National Political Consultative Congress, visited “Gaobeidian” Sewage Treatment Plant, water conservation project and China Meteorological Bureau, participated in the Micro-finance workshop, college student etiquette training and lecture on documentography of social responsibility followed by thorough dialogue with the speakers.
We plan to organize 40 students from around 30 universities in China for the third Summer Camp. We will arrange a facilitator to encourage thinking and increase their case study skill during the third Summer Camp in 2012. The participants need to give a presentation about what they learn from this summer camp during the closing ceremony and deliver a case study about one of the support organization they visit or studied during the summer camp. We will award the best one of the case study.
Through the organization of the summer camp we hope we can achieve our goals as following:
Ø To enhance the students’ understanding of corporate social responsibility;
Ø Facilitate the multilateral communication ;
Ø Collaboration among student unions ;
Ø Improve the understanding about CSR;
Ø To deepen the understanding and implementation of basic human values especially in the area of environmental protection, Facilitate the multilateral communication;
Ø Involve more corporations or organizations;
