Visit to Luxembourg Embassy in China --- The Third Collegiate Social Responsibility Summer Camp Series of Activities
At 8:30am on July 25, 2012, all campers of the Third Collegiate Social Responsibility Summer Camp went to Luxembourg Embassy in China under the leadership of summer camp teachers. The Embassy is located in the third ring of Chaoyang District, Beijing.
Luxembourg, officially the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, is a landlocked country in Western Europe, bordered by Belgium, France, and Germany. It is now the world’s only remaining sovereign grand duchy. The country has a highly developed economy, with the world’s second highest GDP per capita according to the IMF. Steel, financing and broadcasting are its three economic pillar industries. Luxembourg is the world's second largest investment trust center (after the United States), the most important private banking center in the euro zone and Europe's leading center for reinsurance companies.
The campers entered the Luxembourg Embassy in Beijing with curiosity and eagerness. Mr. Carlo Krieger, His Excellency Luxembourg Ambassador in Beijing, received students warmly and introduced Luxembourg’s new development with multimedia detail. Then Mr. Krieger interacted with campers for more than one hour. He patiently answered all the questions raised by students in a very interactive way. Thanks to his efforts, campers have a deeper understanding of the steel and financial industries of Luxembourg. Before campers left the Embassy, they were given publicity materials about Luxembourg. The Embassy also generously presented valuable education materials to Center of International Business Ethics (CIBE).
This visit not only deepened students’ understanding of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, but also provided opportunities for Chinese college students to show their talents before the Luxembourg Embassy staff. |
