On the afternoon of July 26, 2012, students of the 2012 Collegiate Social Responsibility Summer Camp had their last lecture delivered by Mr. Liu Zhenshan, Resident Manager of Crowne Plaza Sun Palace Beijing. Crowne Plaza Hotel is a member of International Hotels Group (IHG). Mr. Liu shared with all the campers the history and corporate culture of IHG and its fulfillments in CSR.
Mr. Liu began by giving a brief introduction to the development of IHG in China as well as in the world. As a global group with a focus on hotel services, IHG has hotels of different varieties for different target customer groups, including some familiar names such as Holiday Inn, Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn Express and so on. IHG initiated the “express hotel” model, which achieved innovative results and was followed by many other hotels groups.
Then Mr. Liu introduced IHG’s CSSR efforts. IHG centers its CSR on charity, education, poverty-relief, and staff training. Meanwhile, it requires its employees to meet customers’ needs, so that its employees fulfill their social responsibilities as IHG performs its social responsibility.
During the question session, Mr. Liu answered questions from the campers patiently and enthusiastically. The students gained a comprehensive understanding of how enterprises engaged in the tertiary industry undertake their social responsibilities in their own way. The campers believe that CSR can be rooted in corporate culture and that more and more people will experience the positive influence that CSR brings to corporations and society. |
