Training Courses

The “Train the Trainers Program” of the Center for International Business Ethics is a course-driven and modulized training program targeting CSR/Ethics related business, government, civil society individuals with the objectives of generating consensus, building capacities, and achieving a value-based sustainable development.
With several intense sessions on course development, obtaining critical and concrete feedback from peer colleagues, the program consisting 9 training modules has been coined, from philosophical context, strategies/methods, to career/personal development, aiming to assist the sustainable organizational and individual success through 1) assisting key decision makers in business, media and government in China operating in China to undertake concrete steps in implementing business ethics in their business operations as on ongoing process, 2) involving all participants in an interactive process of communication while making sure that qualified trainers lead the process, and 3) linking more and more firms and networks in their attempt to implement their ethical codes.
 
Organizer
The Center for International Business Ethics (CIBE) at the University of International Business and Economics (UIBE), Beijing, is a Chinese non-profit organization which supports research and awareness building projects in the field of International Business Ethics in China.
Currently, CIBE projects span three key campaign areas: business, academia and the community. Each campaign area is designed to encourage, inspire, and empower stakeholders to think and act ethically, based on the human values of honesty, integrity, and respect. The campaigns are managed by a dedicated staff team within the CIBE offices, who in turn organize independent training, research and publish reports. Twice each year CIBE holds an international conference to bridge these campaign areas, creating a platform for dialogue and cooperation between the business community, civil society and public officials, and highlighting best practice in responsible business.
 
Training Modules
1.       Course Title: Executive Development
 
General Description
As we are entering the brand-new era which calls for brave-new leaderships to counter-act against the emerging challenges and explore the globalized opportunities, external trainings supplementing organic growth is much required to enable leaders/executives to identify challenges, screening the environment for opportunities, frame sustainable strategies and institute incremental changes. The topics of this training module include philosophy and culture, society and government, corporate governance and strategy, navigation in legal waters and business skill/personal development, with the objectives to equip participants with necessary skills to handle complex issues related to their business formation, management, marketing, public service, communication and personal development in the context of globalized community.
2.       Course Title: Responsible Leadership
 
General Description
While leadership is learned, the skills and knowledge processed by the leader can be influenced by his or hers attributes or traits, such as beliefs, values, ethics, and character. Knowledge and skills contribute directly to the process of leadership, while the other attributes give the leader certain characteristics that make him or her unique. Skills, knowledge, and attributes make the LeaderThe topics of this training module include framework on leadership, charismatic leaders and 21 rules for leadership, with the objectives in helping the future leaders establishing the accurate self-cognition, establishing future leaders’ understanding of their leadership and sense of social responsibility in the current social works and future leaders’ theoretical and psychological foundations for future leading positions in the various walks of life.
 
3.       Course Title: Cross-cultural Management
 
General Description
Why are Chinese good at Arithmetic and weak at Geometry, but the Greeks in Euclidean times just the opposite? Why do babies in the west learn the Nouns faster than the Verbs, but the eastern appears to be as like as an apple is to an oyster? How will the cognitive differences influence the future international politics? Does Fukuyama’s “End of History” make more sense than Huntingdon’s “Clash of Civilizations”? From “Feng Shui” to Cosmology, from comparative literature to the economic history, a cultural gap is spanning between the descendants of Aristotle and Confucius. However, in such a globalized era as of today, the cross-cultural communication and understanding between east and west is of utmost significance. Extensive knowledge, expanded vision and comprehensive understanding of the cultural diversity bridge the cross-cultural communication between east and west, explore the soft powers of the enterprises and pave the paths for win-win solutions. The objectives of this training module are to help the trainees recognize and understand the cultural diversity in today’s world, enhance the self-cognition of the trainees as the main part of communication and providing them with effective communication approaches and skills, and to enable them to comprehend the significance of cultural diversity and the importance of soft powers to the strategic decisions.
 
4.      Course Title: Scanning the Future: A Well Balanced Practical Approach for Management Teams to Deal with Future Risks
 
General Description
We will describe three possible scenarios for the company involved, and the possible risks attached to them, esp. concerning CSR issues. This means we can have an idea of what the challenges of the company will look like and how we can prepare ourselves for these possibilities now. The objectives of this training seminar cross three major disciplines: 1) Cognitive, having the idea on scenarios and future scenarios of the own company; 2) Skills, familiar with strategies to build scenarios and how to react, with company values in mind; 3) Attitude, practicing strategic sustainable thinking, not forgetting bottom line, but keeping values in place at the same time, trust enhancement in teams, (trust enhancement with Stakeholders if joining in on course)
 
5.       Course Title: Coaching for Performance
 
General Description
Coaching is an opportunity to contribute to another person’s development. It is a two-way partnership where coach and coachee both share knowledge and experience in order to maximize coachee’s potential and help him achieve his goals. Coaching skill has become a more crucial skill for a manager to have nowadays. The topics of this training module include main concepts of coaching, competency of a coach, the coach/caochee relationship, effective communication, coaching process, adjust your coaching style and coaching practice, with the objectives to develop a coaching mindset, understand what is coaching, what’s the difference from other kind of learning and development methods, build on the coaching competencies, and conduct coaching sessions independently using GROW model.

6.       Course Title: Create the Life You Choose
 
General Description
Every day we are facing all kinds of choices, we are making big or small decisions for our lives. Are you enjoying the life you are having now? What do you really want from your life? What are the dreams you want to fulfill in your life? What kind of major change you need to make in order to live the life you desire? This two-day workshop will walk through all these questions that are so important to you, because this is your life, it is your responsibility to take care of your life, nobody else will do for you. We all want to achieve a life full of fulfillment, happiness, peace and love, so how to make it happen? The topics of this training module include understand the impact from past on your life, and constructing a clear picture of a current you and the future picture in your mind (life plan), with the objectives to raise the awareness of taking responsibility for your own life, develop your creativity to design your life; and live a balanced life by aligning your life activities with your core values, understand who you are, what you want, knowing yourself in more depth; and acquire positive energy to drive your life fulfillment, systematically plan your life and execute it accordingly, and find out what makes your life meaningful and satisfying.

7.      Course Title: Inner Peace, Inner Power
 
General Description
This two-day workshop is a self-discover journey to find out who you are truly, what’s inside of me that makes me – my uniqueness, which impacts on my external image; How I can accept myself and reach the consensus of internal and external image; and how I can transform myself to be a real me, a happier and complete person. This workshop is highly interactive, through peer feedback, group coaching, meditation practice, role play, painting, etc, the understanding of you is deepened and the impact is sustainable. The topics of this training module include step inwards: Knowing myself, the link between Inner image and external image, getting along with your emotions and feelings, re-design my inner image, and achieve Inner Peace, Inner Power, with the objectives to know myself in depth, clarify the link between my inner image and external image, get out of the negative past and wasteful thoughts, getting along with my emotions, discover my own uniqueness and design life towards to it, and maintain the inner peace and inner power.
